A mealybug predator that, thanks to its small size, is adapted for foraging within shelters and crevices. Females efficiently locate mealybug infestations where they feed and lay eggs. Both immature and adult stages can develop and reproduce with low mealybug consumption. As a result, Nephus can establish in crops even when mealybug densities are low. At 25°C, it completes its life cycle in approximately 30-35 days.
Various species of mealybugs species such as citrus mealybug, longtailed mealybug, vine mealybug, pink hibiscus mealybug, etc. More specifically the following species are main targets: Planococcus citri, Pseudococcus longispinus, Planococcus ficus, Maconellicoccus hirsutus, etc.
